Dacia Logan sales up 15% in Russia

Romanian carmaker Dacia sold 44,194 Logan cars in Russia in the first nine months of 2010, up 15 percent from 2009, ranking sixth among the best-sold brands, in a market which grew 18 percent, to 1.3 million cars. In September , Dacia sold 4,805 Logan cars, 37 percent more than the 3,497 units sold in September 2009, according to the data of the Auto Constructor Commission with the Association of European Companies in the Russian Federation.

Logan is the Renault group's only model among the 25 best-sold cars on this market.  The Russian car market grew 18 percent in the nine-month period, to 1.3 million units, and by 55 percent  in September 2010 compared to September 2009, to 185,953 units.

Five of the ten-best sold car models are manufactured by Lada; the rest are produced by Ford, Renault, Daewoo and Chevrolet.   In March, Russia launched a car park renewal program, granting scrap bonuses of around EUR 1,200. The state has set aside around EUR 277 million for this program, which is due to end in November.
