Daewoo Mangalia shipyard delivers 10 vessels in 2016
Daewoo-Mangalia Heavy Industries (DMHI) shipyard, the largest shipbuilder in Romania, controlled by South Korean group Daewoo and the Romanian state, delivered ten commercial vessels last year, five of which were for the oil industry.
The company’s turnover reached USD 506 million in 2016, reports local Ziarul Financiar. Some 7,100 people worked at the shipyard.
Exports accounted for 99% of the shipyard’s turnover last year, a level similar to 2015.
Daewoo Mangalia became the largest exporter in the Romanian industry last year, excluding the auto and auto components sector. It climbed more than twenty places and reached the 11th position among local exporters.
The shipyard surpassed the steel plant ArcelorMittal Galati in the industry ranking after Mittal dropped to the 14th place among local exporters. The largest Romanian exporter remained the car producer Automobile Dacia.
