Danish company Universal Robots, which produces and sells collaborative industrial robots, sold over 100 such robots in Romania between 2014 and 2016.

The company aims to increase its sales to over 100 robots this year, according to Slavoj Musilek, general manager Universal Robots for Central and Eastern Europe, reports local Hotnews.ro.

Collaborative industrial robots work together with employees and are easier to use than classic industrial robots. The market for such equipment is still low in Romania. The country has 11 collaborative robots for each 10,000 workers in the industry sector, compared to 57 in Hungary, 28 in Poland, and 93 in the Czech Republic, according to data from the International Robotics Federation.

Such a robot sells for EUR 20,000 to EUR 30,000. Universal Robots holds about 85-90% of the local market for such equipment.

The Danish company sold over 22,000 robots worldwide between 2009 and 2016.
