Danish retailer JYSK opens new store in Romania

Danish furniture retailer JYSK will open in mid-October its 16th store in Romania, in the Shopping City Sibiu retail park, owned by British investment fund Argo Real Estate Opportunities Fund (ARGO), reports local Mediafax. The new store will be the company’s first unit in Sibiu.

JYSK entered the Romanian market in 2007 and currently runs 15 stores across the country. The retailer plans to expand to 100 stores in Romania on the medium term.

JYSK, founded in 1979 and owned by Danish entrepreneur Lars Larsen, has 2,100 shops in 36 countries. In the 2012/2013 financial year, it posted sales of EUR 2.5 billion.

Shopping City Sibiu has a surface of over 80,000 sqm, being the largest of the four retail parks owned by ARGO in Romania.
