Danone sells EUR 118 mln of dairy products in Romania

17 May 2012

Dairy producer Danone Romania sold EUR 118.6 million worth of dairy products last year, 5.7 percent higher than the year before. With 90 percent of the products sold on the Romanian market made at the Bucharest factory, Danone's growth reflected its efforts to continue development, invest in modernization, expand new distribution channels and diversify the products portfolio, according to Dieter Schultz, the general manager of Danone for Central and Southern Europe.

At a group level, Danone's sales reached EUR 19 billion last year. In Romania, the company has 574 employees and sells products under eight brands.

Schultz took over the helm of Danone Romania from Stephane Batoux, who moved to Coca Cola Hellenic Romania earlier this year. He started his career in 1996 with Air Liquide Paris, then spent nine years with Mars, where he occupied various posts, the last being general manager for the Eastern Mediterranean division. He joined Danone in 2007, as GM for Malaysia and Singapore, leading its biscuits division, which was bought by Kraft Foods and integrated into Cadbury by 2010. He returned to Danone in May last year as GM for Bulgaria and Greece.
