Dedeman opens biggest DIY store in Romania
Dedeman, the biggest do-it-yourself (DIY) retailer in Romania, will open its biggest store next week, on June 14, reports local Wall-street.ro.
The store is located near the Baneasa Shopping City mall and IKEA store in northern Bucharest.
The total investment in this store was EUR 35 million, which makes this the biggest and most expensive home and décor store in Romania. Some 200 people will work in the new store.
The unit has been developed on a 5-hectare plot that Dedeman bought three years ago for EUR 16 million.
The company will open another store in Hunedoara, on June 16, reaching 47 units. It has more stores in the pipeline targeting to expand its network to 50 units.
Dedeman, which is controlled by local investors Dragos and Adrian Paval, is the leader of the DIY retail market. The company had sales of EUR 1.17 billion and a net profit of EUR 159 million in 2016, according to official data from the Finance Ministry.
Dedeman recently bought the AFI Park office complex in Bucharest for EUR 165 million.
