Demand for logistics and industrial spaces, up by almost half in Romania
Logistics and industrial spaces developers delivered over 75,000 sqm of new spaces in the first half of this year while the demand rose by 40%, according to real estate consulting company DTZ. The demand came from production companies, especially car manufacturers, as well as from companies from the logistics and distribution sectors.
The built-to-suit developments accounted for most of the new logistics space deliveries, and the demand on this segment rose by 40% year-on-year. Ploiesti attracted the biggest part of this new demand, namely 35%.
The modern stock of logistics and industrial spaces in Romania totaled 1.9 million sqm at the end of the first half. About half of these spaces are located in Bucharest (955,000 sqm), followed by Timisoara, which has 12% of the total stock, Ploiesti (10%), Brasov and Cluj, with 7% each.
