Deutsche Bank’s technology center in Bucharest reached 300 employees, plans to add 200 more

16 July 2015

German group Deutsche Bank’s global technology center in Bucharest has reached the 300 employee milestone, ahead of the initially set target, the group announced. DB Global Technology plans to expand its offices with more than 700 sqm of new working and creative space.

“The first half of 2015 has been very good for our technology center. We over-achieved our hiring targets and our team now counts more than 300 staff. Our growth has been exponential for a business established just one year ago,” said Marian V. Popa, Head of DB Global Technology. “We are also proud of the positive operational outcomes within the group and that Romanian specialists appreciate the opportunities within Deutsche Bank’s worldwide technology development, being required to grant assistance to several international locations,” he added.

The technology center has been operational since January 2014 and will create up to 500 IT&C jobs by 2016. The company has received EUR 15.7 million state aid for the investment in this center, which amounts to an estimated EUR 39.2 million, by end-2016.

The center develops cutting-edge software for the bank’s global operations and represents a platform for highly skilled software engineers, according to Deutsche bank’s representatives. The center has hired over 100 IT&C specialists in the last 4 months.

DB Global Technology will expand its premises, adding more than 700 sqm of working and creative space on the first floor of its headquarters in Dimitrie Pompeiu Blvd, in northern Bucharest. The center already operates over 6,000 sqm, distributed on two floors in an office building that Deutsche Bank sold to real estate investment firm Globalworth a couple of years ago.

The expansion works started in July and will include the set-up of 70 working stations, 2 team tables, 2 video-conference rooms, a social hub and a creative space furnished with couches, according to DB representatives.

The company plans to hire another 200 specialists by 2016, in main areas such as quality assurance & testing, software development, project management, IT architecture, functional/business analysis.

Deutsche Bank isn't the only international financial group that has a global services center in Romania. Italian group UniCredit also has an IT center in Iasi.
