Young Romanian inventor Ionut Budiseanu won his first gold medal in this year’s edition of the the Brussels Eureka! Competition, which is part of the Brussels Innova World Exhibition on Inventions, Research and New Technologies, according to a post on his Facebook page.

He went into the competition with a device that can recognize masked burglars while attempting to rob ATMs.

“I got this idea after seeing several news presenting such robberies, I know that such a case was also in Ramnicu Valcea (Budisteanu’s home town – e.n.) and the police lost a lot of time trying to identify the burglars,” Budisteanu told local Agerpres.

Several Romanian inventors and researchers participated at the 63rd edition of the international Brussels competition - Eureka, organized between November 13 and November 15 during the Innova World Exhibition. Romania was represented by 25 inventions exhibited at the stand of the Romanian Ministry Education.
