Dinu Patriciu re-brands first MiniMax discount store as Macro in Romania

Romanian businessman Dinu Patriciu's retail company Mercadia Group has invested EUR 0.5 million in repositioning and rebrading the former MiniMax store in Brasov. The store now runs under the brand Macro, the second retail brand in Patriciu's portfolio, along with Mic.Ro.

The Macro store in Brasov is the first of a planned chain of 150 such units. There are currently 53 MiniMax stores in Romania. Mercadia took over the Minimax Discount chain in August 2010, when it announced the network will be rebranded as Macro.

Mercadia runs the Mic.Ro convenience stores, the Macro discount network, Bet Arena Cafe betting houses and the Bio Good ecological products chain.
