E.ON Distributie, one of the Romanian subsidiaries of German group E.ON, will invest next year at least EUR 33.6 million in the natural gas distribution networks, the amount being similar to the one allocated this year, reports local Mediafax.

To increase safety for consumers, E.ON will conduct, besides investments in modernization of gas pipelines, public awareness campaigns on the necessity to meet the rules of using energy sources, according to Teona Oltean, deputy general manager of E.ON Distributie.

In Romania, E.ON is active on the supply and distribution of natural gas and electricity market, serving almost 3 million customers in Moldova and Transylvania regions.

The company posted a turnover of around EUR 1 billion in Romania in 2013, 10.5 percent below the 2012 level, on lower energy and gas sales.
