EBRD approves the new strategy for Romania on September 30

25 September 2015

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will approve the new country strategy for Romania on September 30. An internal EBRD team will assess various national projects based on their economic feasibility, as well as the financing possibilities for them.

Prime Minister Victor Ponta made  a visit to the EBRD headquarters in London on September 24. He presented several projects which the Government considers essential, in transport, energy and public works. These would have a major impact on regional development and national infrastructure, according to Ponta.

EBRD is determined to support Romania’s economic development and focus on stimulating the private sector, said the EBRD President Sir Suma Chakrabarti. With a market of 20 million consumers and a growing number of Romanian companies which are successful abroad, Romania has a big potential, he added.
