EBRD president comes to Romania in February
Suma Chakrabarti, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development – EBRD’s president, will come to Romania on February 1-2 for talks with Romanian officials and business partners.
He will meet President Klaus Iohannis, Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos, central bank Governor Mugur Isarescu, and Finance Minister Anca Paliu Dragu.
“This year, Romania’s economic growth is expected to be one of the highest in Europe. We hope that private sector investment will extend to more sectors of the economy, as investor sentiment improves,” Chakrabarti said.
“We also trust that public sector investment will resume and that the country will be able to absorb more EU funds,” he added.
EBRD also hopes that there will be new stock and bond issues in the local financial markets this year.
The EBRD will assist Romania in implementing EU funded projects, according to a memorandum that the Romanian Government approved on Wednesday.
