EC resumes payments to Romania for two programmes
The European Commission decided on September 15 to resume the payments to Romania under the “Economic Competitiveness” and “Environment” programmes from the 2007-2013 period.
The country will receive EUR 120 million for costs incurred in European projects. The money will be transferred to the Romanian authorities in the coming period, said the European Commissioner for Regional Policy, Corina Cretu.
At the beginning of September, the EC released the payments under the “Sectoral Operational Programme Human Resources Development” allowing Romania to receive EUR 480 million for incurred expenses in EU-funded projects.
The European Commission decided to stop the payments last year, as it found fraud indicators on several European projects, according to an EC document from December 2014.
