EC supports railway modernization program in Romania

The European Commission supports the EUR 1.13 billion railway modernization program in Romania until 2020, according to the Romanian Railways Company CFR.

The EC has approved seven financing requests from CFR within the CEF Transport 2014-2020 program. One of the most important such projects is the Brasov – Sighisoara railway connection, for which CFR has received two financing grants worth EUR 1.11 billion.

The public tender documents for the three segments of this railway were published in the electronic procurement system SEAP by end – March 2018.
