Eco-bonus of Romania's Cash-for-Bangers program goes up to RON 2,500
Romania’s environment minister Daniel Constantin announced yesterday that the eco-bonus of the Cash-for-Bangers program would increase from RON 1,500 (EUR 330) to RON 2,500 (EUR 549) this year, reports local Agerpres.
Besides this, the Cash-for-Bangers program will not change. The people who scrap their old cars will get a voucher of RON 6,500 (EUR 1,440) to buy new ones. In addition to this, if the new car purchased has low CO2 emissions (under 98g per km), the buyers also get the RON 2,500 eco-bonus.
Moreover, the bonus for green cars will be doubled to EUR 10,000. This bonus is granted via the Rabla Plus program. Last year the bonus for electric cars reached EUR 5,000. However, only 40 green cars were sold via this program.
The Cash-for-Bangers program will have a total amount of RON 170 million (EUR 37.3 million) this year, said the environment minister. The budget will be approved next week.
