Eco cars, more popular among Romanians
Romanians purchased 74 electric and hybrid cars in the first two months of the year, up by almost 90% compared to the same period in 2015, according to data from the Automotive Manufacturers and Importers Association (APIA). In January and February 2015, the Romanians purchased 39 eco cars.
A total of 495 hybrid and electric cars have been sold in Romania in 2015, more than double compared to the 236 units sold the year before, reports local Agerpres.
Overall, the number of new vehicles sold in Romania (passenger cars and commercial vehicles) increased by some 18% year-on-year in the first two months of 2016. The diesel cars continued to dominate the market, with a share of 56% of the total cars sold.
Romania saw over 81,100 new car registrations in 2015, up by 15.7% compared to the previous year.
