Edible oil producer Expur to invest in new silo in Romania
Edible oil producer Expur plans to build a large silo at Slobozia, in South Eastern Romania, where it also owns a factory. The silo would have a capacity of 95,000 tonnes and is still in project phase, according to company representatives quoted by Ziarul Financiar. The new silo would double Expur's storage capacity in Romania, to some 200,000 tonnes.
In 2011, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) granted a EUR 30 million syndicated financing package to Expur.
Expur crushes rapeseed and sunflower seed, produces crude rapeseed oil, refined edible sunflower oil, as well as rapeseed meal, sunflower meal and biodiesel, for both domestic and export markets. It produces edible oil under the brands Ulcom and Marisol, as well as under private label. Its annual turnover in Romania is around EUR 180 million.
Expur is owned by French Saipol, which is part of Sofiprotéol’s Oilseed Division.
