Emilia Bunea leaves ING Group to take helm of Metropolitan Life Romania
Insurance company MetLife recently named Emilia Bunea, 44, new CEO of life insurance company Metropolitan Life Romania. As of July 1, she will replace Theodor Alexandrescu, who has led MetLife’s operations in Romania for nine years.
Emilia Bunea’s appointment is currently pending approval from the local authorities, according to the company.
Prior to this position, she held the position of CFO at ING Group, ING Europe segment, at the headquarters in Amsterdam. She joined ING back in 2007. Before that she held several management positions at Interamerican Group (currently Eureko Romania), Capital Securities and Comtel Rom.
Emilia Bunea holds a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) certification from the CFA Institute U.S., an Executive MBA at the University of Washington and a BA in Software Engineering at the Faculty of Automatic Bucharest.
Theodor Alexandrescu was named CEO at MetLife Golf, headquartered in Dubai.
According to company estimates, Metropolitan Life has 2 million clients and holds a 16 percent market share on the Romanian life insurance market, which last year was some EUR 375 million.
