Enel enters residential gas supply market in Romania
Italian group Enel, one of the biggest electricity distributors and suppliers in Romania, will also enter the gas supply market.
The group’s local subsidiaries will also sell natural gas to residential clients, Enel announced on Friday. The interested clients can choose a 24-month subscription and a 30-day payment term.
“Enel aims to become the preferred electricity and natural gas supplier of Romanians from all the country,” said Michele Grassi, general manager of Enel Energie and Enel Energie Muntenia.
Enel also offers its clients additional services such as annual inspections of the gas installations and repair services.
Enel operates the electricity distribution networks in three of Romania’s regions, namely the Southern Muntenia, which includes Bucharest, Banat, and Dobrogea, and supplies electricity to clients in these regions. Last year, the group started selling electricity to household clients in other regions, aiming for national coverage.
State-controlled electricity holding Electrica and other groups, which only had regional operations until last year, also started doing the same. Electrica also wants to start selling gas to household clients.
The biggest gas suppliers in Romania are French group Engie and German group E.On, which also operate the gas distribution networks in Southern Romania, respectively Northern Romania.
