EU to allot EUR 10 mln for expansion of gas pipe between Romania and Moldova
The European Union will allot EUR 10 million to expand the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline to Chisinau, Moldova’s capital, according to an announcement of the Moldovan Economy Ministry, cited by RIA Novosti.
"The European Union will provide EUR 10 million for the expansion of the Iasi-Ungheni pipeline. The pipeline will be extended to Chisinau," according to the ministry’s website.
The Iasi-Ungheni pipeline was commissioned on August 27, 2014. On Romanian territory, its length is of 32 kilometers. Some 736 meters have been constructed under the Prut river, and another 11 kilometers are on the Republic of Moldova's territory.
