Eurocopter Romania completes modernization of 20 helicopters for the British Royal Air Force
Helicopter manufacturer Eurocopter Romania has completed the upgrade of 20 Puma helicopters for the British Royal Air Force, in a contract worth EUR 22 million.
“We are at the end of a major contract, a contract we are very proud of. We are pleased that in the last two years we had the opportunity to demonstrate our forces in this field and, in the same time, we’ve improved our expertise,” said Jean Louis Mascle, the company’s CEO, cited by local Agerpres.
Eurocopter Romania has made an update that involves the improvement of Puma helicopters’ operational performance, under the RAF (Royal Air Force) Puma Life Extension Programme. The 20 helicopters were upgraded in a period of 23 months, with the value of the contract standing at EUR 22 million.
Eurocopter Romania, a subsidiary of Airbus Helicopters, was established in 2002 at Ghimbav-Brasov. It promotes and sells the entire range of new Airbus Helicopters in Romania and neighbouring countries and provides technical support to its clients.
Eurocopter recently got another piece of land from Romanian helicopter producer IAR Brasov, to expand its production facilities in Ghimbav and to start production of the Super Puma MK1 helicopter.
