European bus operator enters Romanian market for rides abroad
German company Flix Bus, the largest European bus operator, launched its services on the local market last week. The group has started operating bus rides from ten Romanian cities to several destinations abroad, reports local Profit.ro.
The company first announced its intention to enter the Romanian market in January.
The operator has 1,000 employees in its offices in Munich, Berlin, Milan, and Zagreb and several thousand partner buses across Europe. In 2013, Germany abolished the rail monopoly, and Flix Bus rapidly expanded.
For example, a bus ride between Bucharest and Vienna costs EUR 69. A trip to Berlin costs EUR 118.5 whereas a ride to Salzburg starts from EUR 75.
The operator’s main competitors in Romania are Atlassib and Eurolines, both controlled by local investors.
