This year's guests at former tennis pro Ion Tiriac's annual wild boar hunt in Balc, Bihor County, included Wolfgang Porsche - owner of the German luxury car manufacturer Porsche, Georges Marsan - Mayor of Monte Carlo, Franz Rauch - natural juice producer in Europe, Klaus Mangold - former chairman of Daimler-Chrysler group, Alfred Baumhauer - Cartier designer and Inigo Herrera - former member of the European Parliament.

The 254 boars shot in the hunt, which took place this weekend, will be donated after food safety tests, to care homes for the elderly and children. The hunting parties, which traditionally take place at the end of the third week of January in Balc, first became renowned in 2005.

Ion Tiriac is a Romanian former tennis player and businessman, with an estimated wealth of EUR 750 million. Founder of Banca Tiriac - now UniCredit Tiriac Bank, Tiriac also invested in real estate, car retailing, financing in companies like Tiriac Auto, Tiriac Air, Tiriac Leasing - under the Tiriac Holding umbrella.
