Eurostat: Romania's construction sector activity falls by 4.3%

The construction activity in Romania fell in April by 4.3 percent, compared to the same month in 2010, while in the euro area the decline was of 2 percent, according to data published by Eurostat.

Other important annual decreases recorded in April were in Slovenia, where the construction activity fell by 27.3 percent, Bulgaria with 22.8 percent, and Spain with a decrease of 16.9 percent.

Compared to March 2011, the construction activity in Romania fell by 0.3 percent, when an advance of 0.7 percent was recorded  in the euro area. Major decreases were registered in the UK, by 13.4 percent, Germany by 5.7 percent and Portugal by 4 percent, the largest increases being recorded in Sweden with 1.6 percent and France with 0. 7 percent.

In the construction sector, seasonally adjusted production rose by 0.7 percent in the euro area in April 2011, compared with the previous month, according to Eurostat.
