Famous historic building Constanta Casino in Romania, up for sale
One of the iconic buildings in the Romanian seaside city of Constanta, the Casino, is up for sale. Radu Mazare, the mayor of Constanta is planning to sell the Constanta Casino, after the investor who had leased this building four years ago canceled the concession contract.
The Constanta Council has recently voted a draft resolution which ended the concession contract between the City Hall and SC Queen Investments SRL, that used to run the casino. So far, no investors stated their interest in the casino.
The contract between the City Hall in Constanta and Queen Investments SRL, completed in 2007, featured a concession period of 49 years, which could have been extended. The Constanta municipality was entitled to receive EUR 140,000 annually. The casino was never opened after the contract was signed. The Constanta municipality plans to revamp the building in the coming future.
The Constanta Casino is one of the most famous historical monuments in Romania. The building was erected with public money between 1903 and1910. Its architect was Daniel Renard, a Romanian architect of Swiss origins. The building's official inauguration took place in 1911.
