11 June 2014

Spanish fashion retailer Inditex registered sales of over EUR 175 million in Romania last year, up some 16 percent year-on-year, while its profit increased by 12 percent, to around EUR 25 million, reports local Mediafax.

However, the annual growth rates are lower than reported for the year before.

Inditex runs 98 stores in Romania, under the brands Zara, Zara Home, Bershka, Pull&Bear, Stradivarius, Oysho and Massimo Dutti. Last year, all seven brands registered growth and were profitable.

The 19 Bershka stores reported the highest profit increase, of almost 64 percent, while the highest sales increase was registered by Oysho - over 27 percent.

Almost half of the retailer’s sales and profit was generated by the 21 Zara stores, which last year posted a turnover of EUR 85.4 million, up 13.5 percent year-on-year, and a net profit of 12.3 million.

The rest was generated by Bershka, Pull&Bear, Massimo Dutti, Stradivarius, Oysho and Zara Home.

Inditex is present in 90 countries throughout the world, with over 6,300 stores.
