Favorit cinema in Bucharest to be turned into cultural mall with EUR 3 million
Former cinema Favorit in Drumul Taberei neighborhood will be turned into a European Cultural Center and cultural mall by the Bucharest Sector 6 City Hall, which has recently taken over the building from Romania Film.
The future cultural mall will cover an area of 1,800 sqm and will include event halls, exhibition rooms and workshop areas. The investment was estimated at EUR 3 million. Most of Romania's cinemas from the communist era stand derelict across the country, due to lack in investments and with little funds to support themselves, as viewers have switched to private cinema multiplexes in shopping malls.
