Festival brings 12 Cannes-winning films to Bucharest this October

A new edition of Les Films de Cannes a Bucarest film festival will bring 12 Cannes-winning movies to Romania’s capital this autumn. The event takes place between October 23 and October 29, at Cinema Studio, Elvire Popesco, and Cinema PRO.

The Assassin, the movie that brought the Best Director award to Taiwanese Hou Hsiano-Hsien at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, will be screened for the first time in Romania during the festival. The event’s program also includes Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Lobster, Michel Franco’s Chronic, La Loi du Marche – directed by Stéphane Brizé, Tale of Tales – directed by Matteo Garrone, and Louder Than Bombs – directed by Joachim Trier.

The public will also have the chance to see Dheepan, Mon Roi, Our Little Sister, Mountains May Depart, and Sicario.

The renowned French actress, writer and director Emmanuelle Bercoti will open the festival with a screening of her film La Tête Haute / Standing Tall, which also opened the Cannes Film Festival.
