FIFA fines Romanian Football Federation, bans match at National Arena
FIFA’s disciplinary committee has decided to fine the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) and impose a ban on the national football team playing its next match at Bucharest’s National Arena following the incidents that occurred during two matches from the 2018 World Cup preliminaries.
The disciplinary committee has decided to slap FRF with a CHF 15,000 fine and ban the use of the National Arena stadium in Bucharest for one match following the incidents at the Romania-Armenia match organized in September. FRF was also fined with CHF 10,000 due to the incidents at the Montenegro-Romania match.
FIFA imposed the sanctions due to improper conduct among spectators, who used incendiary devices, threw objects, and displayed discriminatory and religious banners.
The Romanian national football team will play the next match against Kazakhstan on Thursday this week, at the Ilie Oana stadium in Ploiesti.
