Romania, two places up in FIFA ranking to best position in five years
Romania’s national soccer team managed to go up two spots in the FIFA ranking, reaching the 12th position. This is the country’s best ranking in the last five years. In August 2008, Romania came 11th in the FIFA ranking.
The national team scored better than Italy, which is at number 13, and than UK, the 14th spot.
Romania also managed to be well ahead of its competitors in the upcoming Euro-2016 preliminaries: Greece ranks 24th, Northern Ireland – 42nd, neighbor Hungary – 43rd, Finland – way down at 78, and the Faroe Islands, at place 102nd.
Germany is the world’s best team, according to the current FIFA ranking, followed by Argentina, and Belgium. Just before Romania come France and Spain – places 11 and 10, respectively. The full ranking is here.
