Financial Times columnist Wolfgang Munchau has recently said he believed Romania is “lucky” it stayed out of the Euro at a time when its economy was unprepared. During a one-day visit to Romania at the invitation of local business paper Ziarul Financiar, columnist Wolfgang Munchau said that Romania should not hurry to enter the eurozone because its economy is not ready. He gave Greece and Portugal as a warning of the problems Romania could face.
“It is important to keep your goal of joining the eurozone, but only when the economy is ready. Until then it makes no sense to adopt the euro, because we all saw what happened with Greece or Portugal,.” said Munchau.
