First blizzards of 2013 affect counties in Romania
The wintry weather seems to be back in Romania. Five counties are under a yellow code for strong wind: Botoşani, Iaşi, Vaslui, Vrancea and Galaţi. Several national roads have been closed down because of blizzards and snow. In these counties, the wind has been blowing at some 60 kilometers per hour, and in some regions, even 75 kilometers per hour. The code yellow for blizzard is valid until Tuesday at noon (January 8 ).
Temperatures will be low across Romania until January 20, with average temperatures below zero. Between January 9 and 11 the temperatures will be slightly higher, with maximums between 3 and 6ºC. The lowest temperatures during this period will be in the region of Moldova, with minimums of minus 18 to minus 10ºC. The highest chances of snow will be on January 14 and 15, and January 18 to 20.
