17 June 2014

Art Safari, the first professional and public art pavilion in Romania, attracted over 15,000 visitors during its first edition. The event, which was organized in Bucharest in late-May, brought together 79 galleries, museums and project spaces and some 3,000 works of art.

Thus, by number of visitors, the event stands among the first events of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe, together with Viennafair and Art Athina, according to a statement of the organizers.

Art Safari was one of the densest European art fairs based on the number of square meters the pavilion occupied. If Viennafair covers an area of 15,900 sqm, Contemporary Istanbul is organized on an area of 17,500 sqm, Art Vilnius takes place on an area of 12,000 sqm, and Art Athina is organized on an area of 7,000 sqm, Art Safari Bucharest occupies the smallest surface, of only 4,000 sqm.

The event took place between May 22 and May 25 in George Enescu Square, Bucharest. The 2015 edition will also be organized in May and aims to expand the section dedicated to international galleries and programs, by attracting more international exhibitors. Registrations for the next edition will start in October 2014, according to the organizers.
