First recharging point for electric cars opens in Bucharest, Romania
The first recharging point for electric cars in Romania will open on Wednesday, June 22, close to the Unirea square in capital city Bucharest, according to M Car Trading, the Mitsubishi importer for Romania. On the occasion, the company will also hand the keys of an i-MiEV model to the first owner in Romania, the National Romanian Commitee CIGRE, a non-profit organization.
The station will be located on Olteni street, near the Transelectrica headquarters. It will be accesible with the use of a personalized card, while payment can be done by subscription, by card, with a monthly bill or with a pre-pay card.
Mitsubishi sells the i-MiEV electric car (in picture) in Romania, for a price of EUR 36,640. This is part of a group of electric cars currently available in Romania: Citroen C-Zero, Renault Fluence ZE and Renault Kangoo ZE. The latter costs around EUR 21,000, while Renault Fluence ZE, EUR 15,000.
Making its first steps towards the use of electric cars, Romania currently lacks the infrastructure to support the use of such vehicles. Carmaker Renault has recently announced it would develop the needed infrastructure for electric cars in Romania, together with the country’s electricity company Electrica, with Schneider Electric and Siemens.
