First ski slope in Romanian spa resort Slanic Moldova to open this spring after EUR 5 mln investment
The first ski slope in the Romanian spa resort of Slanic Moldova, in Bacau county, will open this March following an investment of RON 25.2 million (some EUR 5.6 million). Over 30 percent of the total amount came from European funds.
According to the project manager Silviu Botez quoted by business daily Ziarul Financiar, the ski slope will be inaugurated on March 6 and the aim of the project is to increase the number of tourists in the area.
“Eight years after the inauguration of the slope we want to reach 35,000 tourists, compared to 27,500 reported in 2009, according to the latest data,” said Botez.
The new slope has a length of over 1,400 meters and is equipped with cable transport, artificial snow installation, nocturnal lighting, and mountain rescue service.
According to the project manager, the slope was built by Romanian company Acomin Oradea.
