Five Romanian companies made it to the recent Deloitte Technology FAST 500 EMEA 2013 ranking, up from the four firms included in last year's similar ranking.

Romania's online travel agency Vola.ro ranked 17th – the best performance of a Romanian company in the ranking, which is dominated by French companies. The company was also included in the same ranking in 2012 and 2011, and in this year's ranking it has a growth rate of 5729 percent – almost 58 – fold.

Next but at a spread of 200 places, was TeamNet International, on the 217th spot. Crys Computers was at 333rd, SmartTel at 487th place, and Fortech at 491th place.

French digital cinema specialists YMagis secured the top spot in the ranking, with an impressive growth rate of 59,096 percent – or 591 – fold.

Now in its 13th year, the annual program includes the fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences, and clean technology companies from 24 countries in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) region, based on percentage revenue growth over a five-year period.

The 2013 list had an overall average revenue growth rate of 1,403 percent, a slight decrease from the 1,549 percent growth rate registered last year. The current edition of the program received more than 1,000 submissions.

Entrants to the ranking must have been in business at least five years and have had base-year operating revenues of at least EUR 50,000 and current year operating revenues of at least EUR 800,000.
