Five telecom operators in Romania bid for new licenses
Five local telecom operators have submitted offers to purchase the telecom licenses in the 3410-3600 MHz and 3600-3800 MHz frequency bands, which will be operational in the first day of the next year. The operators include 2K Telecom, Orange Romania, RCS&RDS, Societatea Nationala de Radiocomunicatii (SNR), and Vodafone Romania.
Orange Romania, UPC Romania, Vodafone Romania, 2K Telecom, and SNR currently own the licenses for these frequency bands, which are available until December 31, this year.
The 52 licenses which have been auctioned allow the provision of communications networks, data transmission, and broadband Internet access. The license fee for the 52 telecom licenses amount to EUR 12.6 million.
Romania’s telecommunications authority ANCOM is in charge with selling the licenses.
