Ford Romania increases production for B-Max model
Ford Romania, which owns a car factory at Craiova, in Southern Romania, will increase the production capacity for the B-Max model starting March, from 250 cars per day to 280 units, according to sources in the plant, cited by local Ziarul Financiar.
According to the same sources, Ford will hire almost 1,000 people this year to increase the production. The first 100 people will start working at the plant on March 1.
Ford declined to comment the information, and said that the company would make an official announcement in the next weeks.
For the first time in three years, the US constructor hasn’t planned any days of technical unemployment for its employees. In the last years, Ford has had problems reaching the production targets at its factory in Craiova and had to send its employees at home for 1-2 days per week, depending on the period. During these days, employees received 85% of their salary.
Starting this summer, the Craiova factory will introduce the lower-class SUV Ecosport on a new production line. Ford will increase the production for the B-Max model, because together with Fiat 500L, it will remain among the few models in the small monocab range.
