Ford plant in Romania supplies 34% of group's sales in Europe
Ford Motor sold 142,482 cars in Europe in the first three months of this year, and the models produced in Romania account for 34.4% of this, according to a Data Force report quoted by Economica.net.
The company's Q1 sales shrunk from 166,943 in the same period last year.
The most sought after Ford model in Europe remains the Puma SUV, of which 38,857 units were sold in the period, down from 39,714 a year ago.
In second place in Ford sales, there is the Kuga SUV (29,577 units) and in third Focus (21,943 units). The Fiesta model sold 16,157 units and EcoSport 10,169 units.
As both Puma and EcoSport are produced at the Ford plant in Craiova, Romania is in a leading position among the production units of the American company in Europe. Considering the total of 49,026 Puma and EcoSport units sold in the first quarter of 2022, the factory's production in Romania represents 34.4% of the total sales of the Ford brand in Europe.
