Ford Romania to deliver 500 B-Max units by end of Q1 2013
Ford Romania estimates Romanian sales of about 400 - 500 units of the B-Max car model produced at Craiova, by the end of the first quarter of next year. So far the manufacturer has contracts for 100 Ford B-Max vehicles locally.
"Every day orders are sent. So far we have about 100 orders in Romania. In England, we learned last week, there were over 1,000 and in Germany nearly 2,000 orders," said Zoltan Brassai, general manager Ford Romania, quoted by Mediafax.
This year, Ford Romania will produce 60,000 units, a number that will grow by the end of 2013, said Brassai. Ford Craiova representatives estimated that production in 2013 will reach over 100,000 cars.
Ford Romania started the production of the EcoBoost 1 liter engine in May this year at the Craiova plant. The engine was nominated as “International Engine of the Year” for 2012 by Engine Technology International magazine. Brassai said that Ford wants to produce between 800,000 and 1.3 million engines between 2012 to 2015, at the factories in Craiova and Germany.
Ford is one of the two major car manufacturers with production facilities in Romania, along with with French Renault, which owns the Dacia factory in the country.
