Foreign direct investment in Romania decreases sharply in 2012
Investors have beaten a retreat, with the rate of foreign investments decreasing by over 45 percent this year in Romania. This translates as EUR 465 million in foreign investments against the EUR 849 million registered in the same period of last year, according to the data announced by National Bank of Romania (BNR).
Equity stakes consolidated with the estimated net loss amounted to EUR 492 million for the period and inter-group loans recorded a net negative value of EUR - 27 million.
In the first five months of 2012, the current account deficit stood at EUR 1.92 billion, down by 22.2 percent against the same period of last year.
