Foreign investments down 36% in seven months

Foreign direct investments to Romania (FDI) fell 36 percent to EUR1.9 billion in the first seven months of this year, from EUR 2.9 billion during the same period of last year, according to data from the Romanian Central Bank.

Equity stakes, which include reinvested profit stood at EUR 1.33 billion in January to July, while intra-group loans amounted to EUR 480 million. FDI covered half of the country's current account deficit in the first seven months of 2010.
