Foreign Investors Council’s President: Romania has a perception problem abroad
Romania has a perception problem abroad despite the good economic fundamentals, according to Eric Stab, the president of the Foreign Investors Council (FIC), one of the biggest local business associations.
“I’m sure you all experience this: your friends from abroad come to visit and tell you that it’s much better than they had expected. It’s the same with investors. They must first come here,” Stab said in a conference organized by local Profit.ro.
“Foreign investors must come to Romania and give the country a chance. The fundamentals are good, but the image deficit must be addressed,” he added.
Last year, when Romania had a good economic growth, the direct foreign investments went up by a quarter compared to 2014, to almost EUR 3 billion, which is the highest level in six years, but less than a third of the level reached in 2008.
