Foreign tourist arrivals in Romania, down 2.9% in May
Arrivals of foreign visitors in Romania, registered at the checkpoints in May this year reached 614,700, down 2.9 percent compared to May 2010. Most foreign visitors came from European countries, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS). Most arrivals were registered from Hungary, with 35.4 percent, Bulgaria with 17.6 percent, Germany with 9.8 percent and Italy with 8.7 percent.
Departures of Romanian visitors abroad, recorded at the checkpoints in May, 2011, were of 940,800, up 6.2 percent compared with May last year.
Arrivals recorded in tourist accommodation structures in May, 2011, totaled 584,500, up 7.4 percent compared to May, 2010, according to the National Institute of Statistics.
Overnight stays registered in tourist accommodation structures in May, 2011, totaled 1.3 million, down 3.9 percent than in May, 2010.
