Romania’s capital will host four matches of the 2020 UEFA European Football Championship (Euro 2020), and the government estimates foreign tourists will spend around EUR 100 million in Romania during this event.

“For the four matches organized in Bucharest, each team will have a total of 15,000 tickets, resulting in a minimum of 120,000 tourists who will come to Bucharest for Euro 2020, who can generate revenues of approximately EUR 100 million (EUR 800 /tourist),” according to a note accompanying a draft law initiated by the Ministry of Development, cited by local Economica.net.

The draft law refers to the approval of the technical and economic indicators of the project "Strengthening and upgrading the Giulesti Stadium", one of four stadiums to be upgraded in Bucharest for Euro 2020.

In early-March, the government approved EUR 92 million investments for modernizing two stadiums in Bucharest that are part of the Euro 2020 project, namely the Steaua football stadium and the Arch of Triumph rugby stadium.
