Former PM Adrian Nastase asks for delay in serving jail sentence on health issues after attempted suicide
The former Romanian Prime Minister Adrian Nastase's lawyers filed a request to delay the execution of the two-year jail sentence for the former PM, on health reasons. The first hearing was set for July 5.
The High Court of Cassation and Justice sentenced on Wednesday the former Prime Minister Adrian Nastase, to two years imprisonment for having embezzled funds in the case "Quality Trophy “.
The ex prime minister is admitted to the hospital Floreasca where he underwent surgery after his suicide attempt, that took place Wednesday evening in his home, before being taken into Police custody and sent to jail. He shot himself in the neck, but was prevented from killing himself by one of the Policemen who were in his house.
After morning surgery, doctors said Adrian Nastase could remain hospitalized for about two weeks. More about Adrian Nastase's case here.
