Former Romanian energy authority president appointed Tarom GM
Romanian state-owned airline Tarom’s board of directors decided to name Dan Plaveti as the company's new general manager. He will hold this position until Tarom completes the selection process for a new general manager. This might take 4-6 months, the company announced.
Dan Plaveti replaces Gabriel Stroe at the helm of Tarom. Stroe has been managing the Romanian airline since March 2016, when the company decided to end Belgian CEO Christian Heinzmann’s management contract. He will now return to being Tarom’s chief financial officer (CFO), a position he held before taking over as interim general manager.
Dan Plaveti was the president of Romania’s energy authority ANRE between 2010 and 2012. Last year, he was president of the National Bucharest Airport Company (CNAB).
Tarom recorded losses of over EUR 6 million last year, according to a company report. By comparison, its losses totaled EUR 25 million in 2014.
