Former finance minister Darius Valcov was placed under judicial control yesterday in a new bribery case.

A public servant from the Olt Real Estate Cadastre and Publicity Office was accused of taking bribes for three years from a company controlled by Valcov, reports local News.ro.

Darius Valcov is the author of the Social Democratic Party’s Governing program, according to statements made by PSD leader Liviu Dragnea. He also assessed the Grindeanu Government’s activity, which allegedly triggered the PSD-ALDE coalition to withdraw support for their own government.

According to prosecutors, Valcov set up three companies that acted as one. He invited into one of them the public servant who was working for the Olt Real Estate Cadastre and Publicity Office. The man checked the documents of one of these companies, so that they wouldn’t get rejected by the Olt Cadastre Office. In exchange, he received monthly payments of over EUR 220 as bribe between 2012 and 2015.
