The total number of enterprises active in industry, trade, services, and construction, the four biggest sectors in the local economy, went up by 1% last year compared to 2014, reaching over 488,210.

The number of employees rose by 2.4% to over 3.9 million, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS).

At the end of 2015 the industry sector had over 54,000 companies, namely 11.1% of the total number of companies. The companies active in the industry sector accounted for 35.5% of the average number of employees active in Romania’s economy, followed by the ones in services (33.9%).
